Piano focused beauty The Christopher James Project – Better Days

Piano focused beauty The Christopher James Project – BETTER DAYS:  I’ve been enthused by the fantastic creative abilities of Christopher James, and his “Grace From Persistence” album got a “PICK” from me, in fact.  I strongly recommend that you SUBSCRIBE to Christopher’s YouTube channel, where you’ll find exciting visual performances like this video from “The Sad Waltz“…

In addition to Christopher’s majestic compositions, you’ll also hear star players like Ben Butler, Taylor Eigsti, John Patitucci, Nate Smith, David Torn and Doug Yowell…on songs like “The Dunes” (samples not available yet), they take you to soaring new heights… the recording is pure and flawless, and I have no doubt that DJ’s of all stripes will be choosing this for constant rotations!

The piano intro on “Pear Blossom” is soon joined by a whole compliment of players… when I saw the title, I was thinking “gentle, oriental“, but the song is actually impressed me as more along the lines of King and court… by the end of this 3:34 gem, I was having visions of Anna in “The King and I”, and memories of my own year in Thailand… strange, in a way, because Christopher says this was actually realized as a recollection of his years living in Medford, Oregon (the pear capital of the world).

Raw and stimulating energy greets your ears as you begin listening to “Bated Breath”… the amazing bass on this song meshes perfectly with the piano and drums… this is truly one of the most inspiring piano jazz creations I’ve listened to (yet) in 2021, and will be getting played over and over (and OVER) again!

Ben Butler’s guitar solo on “Blue Mountains” will hold you spellbound, and the Taylor Eigsti’s piano work is truly remarkable… what really stands out on this wonderful song is the elegance… simple, yet amazing.

After my second listen through the album, I had no doubt that my choice for personal favorite of the eleven exciting tunes offered up would be the title track, “Better Days”… the song (definitely) conveys a sense of hope for brighter futures!

I give Christopher and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this totally engaging listen.  Get more information on Christopher’s website as it becomes available.                   Rotcod Zzaj
