Exciting collaborations Calabó – MindColors

Exciting collaborations Calabó – MINDCOLORS:  It’s been just over a year since I reviewed “One Day At A Time“, and now multi-instrumentalist Jandro Rivas has put together some of the most exciting collaborations you’ve heard in a while.  To get a tantalizing taste of their excellence, watch this video first…

You’ll find earlier albums and a couple of live vids when you SUBSCRIBE to the Calabó YouTube channel.

One of the things I totally dig about this group is the variety of styles they play in… if you’re looking for “funked-up” blues, you’ll find “Jaldeño Blues” very much to your liking… I predict that DJ’s of all stripes are gonna’ love this, and will be plugging it into playlists for a long time to come!

If laid-back is something you enjoy the groove of, you’ll find the beautiful “Midnight Son” something you will spend hours listening to… the superb guitar solo exceeds all expectations… I fell in love instantly with the song.

The 3:56 opener, “Arboleda” (Grove), is full of life, and will give you visions of cool breezes wafting around you as you stroll along your daily path… a tasty tune, indeed… this is another song I believe DJ’s will be spinning often!

Tertulia” (Gathering), leads in with just drums & guitar, but quickly swirls you into party mode, ready to dance your night away with the pure joy of living the great life… this is right at the top of the jazz fusion I’ve listened to (so far) in 2021… the guitar solos on this performance are top-flight and demonstrate total talent, to be sure.

For some reason, I couldn’t help but think of some of Santana’s bands as I listened to “LetzJam“… there are some excellent changes on this piece… very danceable!

My choice for personal favorite of the eight exciting songs offered up was easy to make… “Funky Twilight” kicks your mind, soul & body into high gear immediately… some of the best guitar I’ve listened to this year; this song earned an immediate placement on my iPhone player (something that only happens for the very BEST tunes)!

I give Calabó a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this most enjoyable album.  Get more information on the BandCamp page.                              Rotcod Zzaj
