Vivacious versatile jazz joy Matt Gordy – Be With Me

Vivacious versatile jazz joy Matt Gordy – BE WITH ME:  You’ll absolutely want to be with drummer/composer/arranger Matt and his “Jazz Tonite Sextet” on this album full of vivacious and versatile jazz joy… as always, it’s best to watch the players in action first, which you can do right now as they play their spirited version of “You And The Night and the Music“…

If you’re a dedicated jazz lover, you’ll also want to make sure you SUBSCRIBE to Matt’s JazzTonite YouTube channel, where you’ll find many more enjoyable performances.

The players are stars in their own right… you’ll hear Matt’s drums and arrangements, Chris Colangelo doing bass and electric bass, Ido Meshulam on trombone and valve trombone, Alan Pasqua playing piano, Jeff Ellwood doing sax, Ron Stout’s trumpet and flugelhorn and vocals from Sherry Williams , & they’ll MAKE you a true believer as you scope out Matt’s original, “Camouflage“… the piano/bass intro is ultra-sweet, and as the other players join, you’ll realize that this is the kind of tune DJ’s ’round the globe will be adding frequently to their playlists!

Another original from Matt is simple, yet beautifully dynamic… “Chloe” was written for his 10-year-old granddaughter, and I expect it’s a song she’ll remember for all of her life.

Vocalist Sherry Williams helps to make the title track, “Be With Me” (also composed by Matt, with lyrics by Gregg Arthur), one of the sweetest and most enchanting songs I’ve listened to (yet) in 2022… in fact, it turned out to be my personal favorite of the ten tunes Matt and his players offer up for our jazz joy!

I give Matt and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this most enjoyable jazz journey.  Get more information on Matt’s BandCamp page for the release.                          Rotcod Zzaj
