Beautifully creative improvisation Federico Balducci, Brian Kastan, and Mike Pride – Live at Greenkill

Beautifully creative improvisation Federico Balducci, Brian Kastan, and Mike Pride – LIVE AT GREENKILL:  There’s nothing sweeter (for this reviewer, anyway) than beautifully creative improvisation, and this performance is among the best I’ve ever listened to (and believe me, I’ve listened to 1000’s)… check out the entire show first in this live video…

You will find many more engaging improvised session when you SUBSCRIBE to Brian’s YouTube channel, too…

The players are Brian Kastan – electric bass/effects, Federico Balducci – guitar/effects and Mike Pride – drums, and (believe it or not), this was the first time they had ever played together… you’ll hear their minds meshing together as you listen to the 3:28 “Unspoken Words of Truth“… the effects from Brian and Federico are absolutely amazing, and due to the shorter length of the tune, I predict you’ll be hearing this tune often as DJ’s (of many stripes) around the globe plug it into their playlists for frequent rotations!

Emotional Transport” opens the adventure with some sweet interchanges between Brian’s bass and Federico’s guitar… what truly makes this song stand out from all the rest of the improvisors is the “conversational” nature of their playing… you can feel their brains forming the thoughts that come out through their fingers, and the same applies when Mike’s drums join in the fray…. absolutely delicious and full-bodied improvisation.

The recording is flawless, so be sure you listen to this with your headphones on… you’ll want to catch every nuance of songs like “Sonic Breath“… and, don’t try listening to this while you’re “on the road”, folks… the movements are dynamic and strong, so you’ll want to be someplace where you can absorb the full impact of the tune!

From the standpoint of improvised music, this trio perform like 21st Century pioneers, and nowhere is that better illustrated than on my choice for personal favorite, the 29:08 “Journey of the Uncommon Man“… kick back with a brew (or whatever turns you on) and join in the journey… you’ll be glad you did.

I give this splendid improvised trio a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with a (perfect) “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 5.00… which means that they also get a “PICK” from me for “most engaging improvisational trio”.  Get more information on Brian’s BandCamp page for the album.                                   Rotcod Zzaj
