vigorous world class jazz quartet Mike DiRubbo – Inner Light

vigorous world class jazz quartet Mike DiRubbo – INNER LIGHT:  One of the genuine pleasures of reviewing music is the opportunity to hear vigorous world class jazz like alto saxophonist Mike and his quartet perform for you on this 17 November, 2023 release… I have no doubt you’ll agree as you watch them perform “Love The Same” LIVE…

There are a few other performances you can catch when you SUBSCRIBE to Mike’s YouTube channel (hopefully, with many more to come soon).

Complimenting Mike’s superb sax work are Brian Charette on Hammond B3 organ, Andrew Renfroe playing guitar and Jongkuk Kim doing drums… as you listen to tunes like the lively title track, “Inner Light“, you’ll find yourself totally enchanted with their high-talent (and high caliber) playing… without question, this is one of the freshest and tastiest jazz albums we’ve listened to (yet) in 2023!

After the first listen through the album, there was no doubt in my mind that my personal favorite of the eleven exciting tunes was the 8:21 “The Muse“… each member of the group turns in a superb performance, and Andrew’s guitar solo is absolutely splendid.  I give Mike and his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.
