highly inspiring jazz journey Marshall Gilkes and WDR Big Band – LifeSongs

highly inspiring jazz journey Marshall Gilkes and WDR Big Band – LIFESONGS:  If you’re seeking out highly inspiring jazz, you’ll find trombonist Marshall’s performance(s) with the WDR Big Band fits the bill (in all ways)… first, watch the band in action on the album opening track, from a couple years back…

You will find many (MANY) more live performances when you SUBSCRIBE to Marshall’s YouTube channel (over 50 of them; I signed up immediately).

The album doesn’t officially go live until January 26th, 2024, so you’ll be hard-pressed to find samples (I’ll add them in when I’m notified the album has posted samples)… Marshall’s compositional skills are totally clear as you listen to the rousing “Sugar Rush” – Paul Heller’s tenor sax solo is just one of the highlights of a tune that is destined to become a classic in it’s own right!

I had no difficulty in making my choice for personal favorite of the eleven exciting jazz journeys offered up… the 9:47 “Back In The Groove” paints a picture of life renewed, and is one of the most inspiring listens I’ve had (yet) in 2023.

Marshall and all his co-players get a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99… keep your eyes and ears on the Alternate Side Records catalog for more information as the release date comes closer.
