Upbeat hip tribute to Ray Charles Flying Horse Big Band – Florida Rays

Upbeat hip tribute to Ray Charles Flying Horse Big Band – FLORIDA RAYS:  2020 has been jam-packed with great big band albums, but this upbeat & hip tribute to Ray Charles truly takes the cake… it’s been three years since I reviewed their “BMOC” album, and they’ve gotten nothing but better since… though I didn’t find any LIVE performances (hint! hint!), you can view and listen to the whole new album on The Flying Horse Big Band – Topic channel on YouTube

I totally dug the total ACTION (not to mention the HARP) on the 4:34 “I’m Movin’ On“… brothers and sisters, you WILL be hearing this on your local R&B stations in regular rotation… DJ’s are gonna’ LOVE this!

One of my favorite Ray Charles tunes – EVER – is “Hit The Road, Jack“… the vocals just SMOKE on this track – even the backup singers are totally rockin’ it out… a great performance of a classic Ray tune.

The closer, “Unchain My Heart“, makes the purchase of this album well worth it… I have no question that Ray Charles smiles when he watches Flying Horse Big Band performing his song!

I had no difficulty in making my choice for personal favorite of the thirteen satisfying tunes offered up… “Let The Good Times Roll” is classic Ray Charles, and this big band certainly makes those “good times” get goin’ on.

I give The Flying Horse Big Band a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99… you’ll WANT this one in your R&B collection.  Get more information on the FHBB page for the release.                                Rotcod Zzaj
