Straightahead swinging jazz J.C. Hopkins Biggish Band – New York Moment

Straightahead swinging jazz J.C. Hopkins Biggish Band – NEW YORK MOMENT: When it comes to straightahead swinging jazz, it just doesn’t get ANY better than this group (Joy Hanson, Nico Sarbanes, Vanisha Gould, Shawn Whitehorn and Alicyn Yaffee: Vocals JC Hopkins – piano, Nico Sarbanes – trumpet solos, Drew Vandewinckle – arranger and tenor sax, Jason Marshall – Baritone sax, Julian Pressley – alto sax, Beserat Taffesse – trombone, Walter Cano – trumpet, Evan Hyde – drums, Kaisa Maenshivu – upright bass) … of course, the best way to get a taste for this smokin’ hot group is to WATCH them (live, about 8 months ago):

…you’ll find a whole lot more performances when you SUBSCRIBE to the JC Hopkins YouTube channel (as I did).

Their new album doesn’t release officially until April, 2020, so I’ll come back and add samples in when I’m told it’s gone hot… in the meantime, I’ll tell you that the heavy-duty swing on “We Can Change The World” will have you tappin’ toes, snappin’ fingers & dancin’ all night long… this song WILL be getting some MASSIVE amounts of airplay on jazz stations all over the globe!

If you’re looking for something a little more laid-back, with a (definitely) happy flapper feel, you’ll totally dig down deep into “One Of Those Days”… lots of movement and great recording make it a truly strong tune.

I haven’t heard music this lively in a (very) long time… it was clear from the opening note of “Better Git It In Your Soul” that it would be my choice for personal favorite of the eleven songs offered up… Julian’s alto sax will BLOW your mind!

I give the J.C. Hopkins Biggish Band a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Get more information on the J.C. Hopkins website.              Rotcod Zzaj
