Passionate heartfelt solo piano Stephen Wallack – Chapters

Passionate heartfelt solo piano Stephen Wallack – CHAPTERS:  It is always (truly) a joy for me to listen to a new (to me) solo pianist… Stephen’s passionate, heartfelt piano compositions are full of vibrant overtones and draw from a strong emotional palette that will engage memories you thought you had forgotten.

The 4:48 “Cooper’s Song” is one of my favorite solo pieces (so far) in 2019… according to the liner notes, it describes the “passing of friends“, and brings back pleasant remembrances of one of my own solo piano heroes here in Olympia… I can easily see this tune getting major airplay on New Age stations ’round the country!

Stephen says “I try to write songs that have a powerful hook, rhythm or emotional centerline”, and he’s done that in a very awe-inspiring way on pieces like the totally engaging “The Traveler“… since my own journey has involved travel ’round the whole globe, it’s easy to visualize many of the places/countries I’ve been in… Thailand, Yemen, Egypt, Germany & on & on… Stephen does a masterful job of pacing on a song that’s full of complex twists & turns… much like life, of course.  This composition is a perfect “theme song” for those who roam, masterfully played.

Holiday” conveys a sense of the joy and happiness we all feel when we are released from the labors and toils of the every day world… again, Stephen’s pacing on this song is pure perfection.

My personal favorite piece of the ten Stephen has offered up is one that seems to reflect his admiration for the great George Winston’s playing… “Oceans” shows his strengths on the keyboard, and uses many moods within the 6:30 length of the song to fill your ears (& heart) with the POWER he’s been gifted with… I just LOVE this wonderful piece of music!

I give Stephen a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98 for this excellent solo keyboard adventure.  Get more information about this exciting pianist on Stephen’s website.        Rotcod Zzaj
