* mystical powerful piano orchestral * Peter Calandra – THE ROAD HOME:  The best way I know of to introduce you to Peter’s wonderful music is to “show” it to you – so please watch the YouTube video from this album to feel (and see) the wonderful and enchanting performance he does on “Morning Dove”:

My most recent review of his work was in Contemporary Fusion Reviews, and I was thoroughly impressed then… Peter is particularly adept at creating string sounds that form a perfect “weave” in with his signature piano style… the album just went into the pre-release phase, so though there are no direct samples available at this time, you can preview a couple of the tracks at iTunes (I will return and enter sample links as soon as they become available).

When this new sonic adventure was sent to me, the first word that came to mind as I listened to the beauty of the opening track, “The New Dawn”, was POWER… he gives you an intimate view of a dawnscape via his superb touch on the piano and the “rising” effect of both string and vocal sounds furnished by Joy Askew that will gloriously (and completely) dazzle your ears… another bonus is that (per the liner notes), this is Peter’s “most personal and revealing project to date”.  Kudos also go to Ken Freeman for the mixing and mastering work on the album.

I listened over and over again to “Points In The Sky”, and have no doubt you will as well… Peter uses strong undercurrents of strings and synthesizer against his heavenly piano to wrap your soul in delicious visions of brilliant starlit skies (that’s my vision, of course, you may see something different – & that’s OK); this is one of the best pieces I’ve heard him do – it certainly merits consideration for an award. I think his experience in composing music for television and films gave an “extra edge” to this tune.  Peter also mentioned that this album was “inspired by the breathtaking scenery on a recent trip across country”.

Peter’s ability to capture your ears and make them feel the pleasure of his music is best displayed through my personal favorite of the ten songs offered up… “Mi Amore” is one of those compositions that you are just naturally drawn to, and will stay in your mind for days (if not weeks and months) to come – the song is bound to get massive airplay and once that happens, it will stay on the charts for a long time to come!  I give Peter a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this superb musical journey!  Get more information on Peter’s FACEBOOK page.               Rotcod Zzaj
