Gerhard Daum deeply moving guitar works Gerhard Daum – RURAL RENEWAL: Like Gerhard, I spent years in both Germany and the U.S. (I said my final auf wiedersehen to Deutschland in 1988), and have an abiding appreciation for both countries… he spent much time in Hollywood to further his musical skills, but he and his family tired of the rat-race there, & so moved back to his motherland (you don’t want to get me started on tales of my time in Germany – I could write volumes, lol).  His latest (guitar, piano and midi-keyboard) album shows a deep appreciation for the peace that rural climes can impart… all-original compositions like “Gentle Rain” immerse the listener in the simple solace that nature can give… I loved this song, and the strings woven into the piece will help you realize his musical genius!

Gerhard’s guitar on the closer, “Hidden Valley“,  reminds me (in the immediate) of travels through the magic landscapes of both the Schwarzwald (the Black Forest regions in Germany, of course), and the back roads of Island Pond, Vermont (where I spent a lot of time on my grandfather’s farm so many decades ago).

I have no doubt that his name/music will become widely known with this excellent and calming musical escape from the hustle and bustle we all want to leave behind… songs like the title track, the 2:59 “Rural Renewal“, will transport your spirit most pleasantly, to be sure; this song is easily an award-winner!

It is the serene blend of strings with guitar on “Time And River” that won my pick as personal favorite of the dozen songs Gerhard offers up for your listening pleasure… it’s so easy to see (and hear) the fall leaves descending as part of the change of season on this beautiful song… flawless recording makes it even more of a gem.  I would love to see/hear Gerhard working with the high-talent at Will Ackerman’s Imaginary Road studios… just a thought, of course.

Any way you listen to this, it certainly merits my MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99.  Get more information on Gerhard’s website.   Be sure to visit and subscribe to his YouTube channel as well.       Rotcod Zzaj
