Delightfully daring jazz piano Ernesto Jodos – Earlier Trips, Volume 1

Delightfully daring jazz piano Ernesto Jodos – EARLIER TRIPS, VOLUME 1:  Though Ernesto’s jazz piano work is well known throughout Argentina, this is my first exposure to his delightfully daring jazz piano work… I’m sure I’ll be hearing him again.  I didn’t find any LIVE videos from this release, but you will still want to SUBSCRIBE to his YouTube channel.  Here’s an excellent solo video from an earlier album…

The high-energy, high-talent players are Donny McCaslin: saxophone; Ernesto Jodos: piano; Matt Pavolka: bass and Jeff Hirschfield: drums, and as you listen to their performance on the stunning “El Donny“, you’ll fall in love with Ernesto’s style immediately… lots of changes to the groove as this 8:05 gem forms (& re-forms)… this is indeed one of the most rewarding jazz tunes I’ve heard (yet) in 2020!

If your soul (and your ears) are yearning for some gentle piano to soothe and heal, you’ll find “Gaby’s Tune” to be most enjoyable… Matt’s bass on this one is pure perfection, with a wondrous weave into Ernesto’s sensitive piano.

I have no doubt that aspiring jazz pianists across the globe will be listening in (total) awe as they scope out Ernesto’s performance on “I Hear A Rhapsody“… this IS the tune that DJ’s will be locking into their playlists on a regular basis… you just don’t hear jazz piano skill like this very often anymore!

My choice for personal favorite was an easy one this time… “Plot Twist” is perfectly recorded, with full-bodied upbeat jazz… this tune alone makes the purchase of the album well worth it.

I give Ernesto and his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Get more information on Ernesto’s BandCamp page.  Rotcod Zzaj
