deliciously different jazz debut album Curtis Taylor – TAYLOR MADE: What a tasty early-morning listening experience THIS is… trumpeter Curtis has created a deliciously different jazz debut album that won’t soon be forgotten; because it doesn’t release officially until 12 April, 2024, you won’t (yet) find videos of it, but here’s a live performance from a year ago that will hip you to his highly unique style…
There are several other exciting live performances available when you SUBSCRIBE to Curtis’s YouTube channel (I signed up right away).
Alongside Curtis’s terrific trumpet work, you’ll also hear Marcus Elliot on tenor sax, Theron Brown’s piano, Jonathon Muir-Cotton’s acoustic and electric bass and Alex White doing drums. San Diego-based percussionist David Castaneda joins the group on the second track… I have no doubt that the joyful playing on “After The Rain” will catch your ear as strongly as it did mine… I predict that you’ll be hearing this tune on your local stations throughout the spring and summer!
It was clear to my ears by the second measure of the 6:54 “Indomitable” that it would be my choice for personal favorite of the seven superb songs Curtis and his players offer up for this exquisite jazz journey… the “keyword” for this tune is “POWER”… an absolute jazz gem.
I give Curtis and all his playing pals a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating for this very strong debut album, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99. Watch Curtis’s Spotify channel (below) as it gets nearer to the release date.
