Dazzling moving tribute album Art Of Time Ensemble – Songs of Leonard Cohen Live

Dazzling moving tribute album Art Of Time Ensemble – SONGS OF LEONARD COHEN LIVE:  Tribute albums are not always “my favorite thing”… but with the exceptional production skills of Andrew Burashko, Art of Time Ensemble’s dazzling moving tribute definitely “makes the grade”… first, I recommend you watch and listen to “Come Healing” (samples won’t go live until 29 September, 2022, the album release date… I’ve only included the link so you’ll know where to go), featuring Sarah Harmer…

You’ll be able to enjoy many more performances when you SUBSCRIBE to the Art of Time channel on YouTube… I signed up right away.

The high-talent artists on the album are Andrew Burashko (piano/musical director); Robert Carli (clarinet); Sheila Jaffe (violin); Amy Laing (cello); Rob Piltch (guitar) and Joseph Phillips (double bass), based in Toronto, Canada; additionally, it’s important to note that five icons of the Canadian pop scene are doing the vocals – Steven Page,  Sarah Harmer,  Tom Wilson, Sarah Slean and Gregory Hoskins… in Andrew’s own words, “In choosing the songs for this tribute, I wanted to cover the entire span of Cohen’s career, showcasing both, well-known classics and lesser-known tracks such as “Come Healing” and “Treaty” from very late in his career“.  The ensemble absolutely nails it on Cohen’s “Boogie Street“, and I expect this performance will get a LOT of airplay!

I found the 5:29 “Closing Time” totally enchanting… slipping & sliding through dark alleyways to hit all those late-night jazz clubs until the early hours… the visuals are really strong on this performance.

The opening bars of “Treaty” segue ever-so-nicely into one of the most laid-back songs I’ve listened to (yet) in 2022… I have no doubt you will fall in love with this smoky tune just as quickly as I did, and that you’ll be spinning it over and over again!

I had no doubt what my favorite of the thirteen tantalizing tunes would be… “Dress Rehearsal Rag” is totally unique and not what you thought it would be… an amazing song and stunning performances.

I give Art of Time Ensemble a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Get more information on the Art of Time Ensemble website as it becomes available.      Rotcod Zzaj
