Intriguing original World Fusion Pablo Lanouguere Quintet – Altar

Intriguing original World Fusion Pablo Lanouguere Quintet – ALTAR:  It’s been a couple of years since I reviewed bassist/composer Pablo’s excellent work on his “Eclectico” album, which was so good that he got a “PICK” for it.  First, check out this video of “You Wish You Played The Flute” from the new recording…

Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to Pablo’s channel, since you’re there alreadyhe’s upgraded the channel, too, so there are a LOT of new performances there to enjoy.

An excellent cast of players… Pablo Lanouguere, Bass & Compositions; Meg Okura, Violin, Federico Diaz, Guitar; Emilio Teubal, Piano, Franco Pinna, Drums, with Juana Luna Voice (tracks 5 & 10) and Horacio Romo Bandoneon (tracks 3 & 8) all work superbly together, especially on tunes like the excellent “Perro De Marmol” (no samples yet, they will come around mid-October, when the album goes live) Meg’s violin is excellent… perfect for radio, I expect this tune will be getting a LOT of airplay ’round the globe!

Pablo’s short bass intro on the title track, “Altar”, leads into a performance that shows the total mastery all of the players have, and will be spinning often on the player in my car… simply beautiful.

Juana’s vocal on the high-energy “Nada Mas” will fill your heart with joy, and you’ll toss your shoes off and dance the night away… a totally fulfilling song of lively celebration!

There was no question in my mind that my personal favorite of the eleven exciting songs offered up would be “Desalma”… a different style with unique rhythms, it shows the versatility of this group and it’s players.

I give Pablo and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this powerful album.  Get more information on Pablo’s website.                  Rotcod Zzaj
