collaborative masterful wizardry Jim Self and John Chiodini – Touch and Go

Collaborative masterful wizardry Jim Self and John Chiodini – TOUCH AND GO:  It’s been a good long time since I reviewed Jim’s “Innerplay” album in 2005… he and guitarist John Chiodini give you an album chock-full of collaborative masterful wizardry that you’ll cherish for years to come.  First, check them out on the title track…

One thing I can guarantee is that you’ve never heard tuba in jazz mode like Jim creates… to check out many more of his performances, be sure to SUBSCRIBE to Jim’s YouTube channel.

After my second listen through the dozen delightful tracks offered up, it was easy to decide that my personal favorite of the tunes is “Triangles“, written by Jim… seemingly effortless playing, it’s the kind of mellow that many jazz artists try to achieve… in the hands of these masters, it comes to life, to be sure!

The official release date is 6 October, 2023, but you can purchase the album directly from Jim on his page for the release… this comes MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.
