Wonderfully crafted jazz tribute Julio Botti – Pure Tango

Wonderfully crafted jazz tribute Julio Botti – PURE TANGO:  I was very pleased with Julio’s soprano and tenor sax work when I reviewed his “Jazz Tango Fusion” release last year, and his new album is even more exciting… before I move on to the review, though, I strongly encourage you to watch Julio live in solo action first…

…be sure you SUBSCRIBE to Julio’s YouTube channel, too, where you’ll find many more superb performances, as well as other albums of his… I did – right away.

The player list for this set is far too long to itemize here, but you can check it out on the ZoHo Records page for the release… one of the best tunes is “Recordando” (Remembering), inspired by his memories of his mother taking care of the home… rich tones from Julio are skillfully melded in with some wonderful piano from Matias Lanfranco!

The driving percussion on “Oro Y Plata” (Gold and Silver), combined with Silvia Lallana’s stirring & lively vocal style, make this a tune that DJ’s will be spinning constantly, I’ve no doubt… totally entertaining.

As soon as I spun this album, I knew what my choice for personal favorite of the eleven songs offered up would be… the opener, “Taquito Militar”, is certainly the most engaging Argentine tangos I’ve listened to (yet) in 2020!

I give Julio and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98 for this fine album.  Get more information on the Zoho Records page for the release.          Rotcod Zzaj
