Terrifically exciting tango jazz Julio Botti – Jazz Tango Fusion

Terrifically exciting tango jazz Julio Botti – JAZZ TANGO FUSION:  This is a brand NEW player for my ears… the players are Julio Botti tenor and soprano sax; Andrew Baird guitar; Eduardo Withrington Hammond B 3 organ, Fender Rhodes piano;
Tiago Michelin drums and Juampy Juarez guitar on #1 – and they ROCK IT, folks… some of the coolest “tango jazz” you’ll ever hear… before I get started on the review, I (most strongly) recommend you check their video trailer first…

…as you can see & hear, they play very well together… you’ll want to SUBSCRIBE to Julio’s YouTube channel, where you’ll find many more noteworthy performances – I did.

I can tell you right now, you’ve never heard jazz tango like you’ll hear on the 4:26 “Tango Blues” (samples will come later, early August; I’ll add them in when I’m told the album has gone “hot”)… full-bodied reeds from Julio, and tightly integrated performances from all the other players… I’ve NO doubt this one will be receiving some MAJOR airplay!

“Celtic Feast”, penned by Pablo Ziegler, wasn’t quite what I expected – but, don’t take that the wrong way… it’s still an absolutely JUMPIN’ piece of jazz… it’s just “different” than you might be thinking about it from the title…. new directions, to be sure.

The 6:44 “Chin Chin” features some very interesting improvisation from Julio, and superb call/response solo trading… I totally dug the wah-wah guitar on this piece (listen with your headphones on, folks)… in fact, this turned out to be my personal favorite of the nine tasty sonic treats offered up for your aural pleasure.

I give Julio & his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this highly-charged album.  Get more information on the Zoho Records page for the release.          Rotcod Zzaj
