Unconventional meditative magic UMA – Wishing Well

Unconventional meditative magic UMA – WISHING WELL:  It’s always exciting for me to get “new” artists (in other words, those I haven’t heard before) in for review… this splendid CD features exciting and unconventional meditative magic that’s totally fresh and new… to get a taste of their talent, I suggest you watch the trailer video for the album…

I thought that was absolutely lovely… if you agree, be sure to SUBSCRIBE to the UMA Estonia channel on YouTube, where you can enjoy many more performances.

The duo is made up of guitarist Robert Jürjendal and trumpet/corno da caccia player Aleksei Saks from Estonia; what you can hear (immediately) as you listen to their playing on the beautiful “Lightness of Soul” is talent unlimited, and an absolute joy of playing together… I predict that this 3:48 sonic gem will be getting a LOT of airplay on stations of all sorts around the globe!

Aleksei’s horn intro for “Longing” projects a sense of sadness, but as Robert joins in on guitar, it’s clear that this song is more about hope than depression… for relief from our most current crisis (the Pandemic) and aspirations for the bright and shining future that’s just over the horizon… the crystal clear recording of the guitar and horn make this pure pleasure to listen to… I have a feeling our friend Jeff Oster would fall in love with this duo in the immediate moment.

In the liner notes about the recording, Aleksei said “Recording was like a cozy home concert, performed in peace and calm“, and nowhere will you hear that better than on the emotionally moving “Deep Sea“… the duo brings a sense of well-being right into your living room that you will find yourself playing over and over (and OVER) again!

The gentle (yet moving, and exciting) rhythms that open the song “Lost a Dream” easily made it my personal favorite of the ten tantalizing tunes offered up for our aural adventure… there’s a perfect junction between the guitar and horn that other artists can only envy… I’m already hitting “replay” on this one, folks… a GREAT performance.

I give Aleksei and Robert a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Get more information on Aleksei’s website, or Robert’s site as it becomes available.                          Rotcod Zzaj
