Terry Lee Nichols and Rebekah Eden absolutely stunning contemporary music Terry Lee Nichols and Rebekah Eden – We Have Only Come To Dream

Terry Lee Nichols and Rebekah Eden absolutely stunning contemporary music Terry Lee Nichols and Rebekah Eden – WE HAVE ONLY COME TO DREAM:  Terry and Rebekah, along with some of my other favorite artists (like Sherry Finzer on flute) have created a most memorable musical experience with this excellent eleven-song CD… songs like the darkly-toned “Conquistadors” will reach right down inside of you and give you some new insights into the “discoverers” of our New World… truly one of the most powerful compositions I’ve listened to (yet) in 2018, and Rebekah’s vocal work on this piece is beyond stunning.

The 3:40 title track, “We have only come to dream…”, incorporates the sounds of Native America flawlessly, and the string work that Terry melds in, around and through the piece is, in a word, MAJESTIC… the intimate weave of instruments on this tune requires what I like to call “deep listening”… so, my advice is that you settle back for the full 42+ minutes with your headphones on to get the full effect of their dynamic beauty together!

A song that falls much closer to the “contemporary zone” is “The River of Life“, paying homage to the (several) water routes that were a critical part of the development of our nation… I found this composition to be the most accessible piece on the album… there’s no question in my mind that this one will be nominated for (and win) awards.

Sherry’s flute on “The Anasazi” forms the perfect introduction to a piece that brilliantly highlights the “ancient ones” who inhabited areas of the southwestern states many moons ago… I fell in love with this marvelous piece within the first eight bars… Terry utilizes his many skills on this masterwork to give you a sense of the POWER of those ancient people!

It was one of the shorter compositions, “The Courier“, that won my vote for personal favorite of the eleven offered up for your sonic enjoyment (and enlightenment)… there is a sense of total movement on this song that reminds you of the struggle, yet gives you faith in the coming of better things (this one is going on my iPhone player as a “permanent”).  This album is some of the most deeply moving and inspiring work I’ve heard (yet) in 2018.

I give Terry and his fellow music adventurists a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this excellent and inspiring collection of music.  Get more information on Terry’s page for the album.
