Swinging highly spirited jazz Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra – Virtual Birdland

Swinging highly spirited jazz Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra – VIRTUAL BIRDLAND:  When it comes to swinging highly spirited jazz, Arturo O’Farrill just naturally knows how to put it together, as evidenced on his “Four Questions” release about this same time in 2020, which got very high marks from these ol’ jazz ears… to see/hear why I believe Arturo’s music is so vital to our culture, first watch this excellent live performance from a few years back…

I didn’t see any LIVE videos from this album, but you will find a WEALTH of live performances when you SUBSCRIBE to Arturo’s YouTube channel… I did.

One of the most stimulating performances I’ve heard (yet) in 2021 is “Pouvoir” (which means power in French)… it’s jammed full of rhythm, and Malika Zarra’s vocals are totally inspiring… I predict this tune will be getting HUGE amounts of airplay around the globe!

The high-talent and high-energy players that Arturo pulled together to create virtual musical marvels like the stellar opener, “Gulab Jamon”, is far too long to itemize here, but you can check it out on the Zoho Records page for the album.

What you’ll hear on my personal favorite of the ten tunes Arturo offers up, “Ana Mashoof“, clearly demonstrates the spiritual beauty that can be achieved when players truly work together for the common good… it’s an amazing composition by Ghazi Faisal Al-Mulaifi from Kuwait that features the absolute BEST percussion work I’ve heard (yet) in 2021!

I give Arturo and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Learn more on the Zoho Records page for the album.                                  Rotcod Zzaj
