Sweetly spontaneous guitar magic Sharon Isbin – AFFINITY: If you are looking for music that will help you to rise above the troubles and tribulations of today’s ever-changing world, you need look no further than this new album from guitarist Sharon Isbin… it is truly sweetly spontaneous guitar magic… though I didn’t find any LIVE videos from this new release, you can watch her wizardry in this video clip from a few months back…
…be SURE to SUBSCRIBE to Sharon’s YouTube channel, where you’ll find MANY more videos of her work.
“Affinity” won’t be officially released until early May, 2020, so you won’t find samples yet, but I can tell you right now that you’re going to be totally enthralled as you listen to the stunning “Arpa del Guerrero” (The Warrior’s Harp), written by composer/guitarist Leo Brouwer from Cuba… the focus is definitely on the guitar, and the excellent recording, as well as the 4:04 length means that DJ’s (of all kinds) will be airing this often!
“Of Love and Longing”, by Richard Danielpour, is a quite lively piece that is totally intriguing… it will hold you spellbound for the entire 11:02 length… this song also displays Sharon’s unique talent for “playing the silent notes” to fullest advantage.
As soon as I began the album, I knew that the title track/opener, “Affinity: Concerto for Guitar & Orchestra”, World Premier Composition by Chris Brubeck (Dave’s son) was my choice for personal favorite of the nine (long) pieces offered up… the orchestrals are woven in, around and through every note most attractively. This is THE BEST guitar composition I’ve heard (yet) in 2020!
I give Sharon and her musical crew (Maryland Symphony Orchestra; Elizabeth Schulze – Conductor; Isabel Leonard – voice and Colin Davin – guitar) a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99. Get more information on the ZoHo Records page for the album. Rotcod Zzaj
