Marvelous jazz storytelling Billy Prim – Thalassa

Marvelous jazz storytelling Billy Prim – THALASSA:   The title for drummer Billy Prim’s September, 2019 release translates from Greek as “Sea, ocean; mystically the great generative principle of the spatial deeps“… as always, the best way to understand just how well Billy and his crew (Attila Blaho – Piano; Andor Horváth – Double Bass; Júlia Csillag – Voice and Áron Turcsányi – Electric Bass) do that is to watch them perform the beautiful “Waves of Emotion” LIVE…

…I also strongly suggest that you SUBSCRIBE to Billy’s YouTube channel, so you can enjoy the other performances he has posted there.

Since my own albums featured me playing mostly keyboards, you will easily understand why I instantly fell in love with the opener, “Enlightenment“, right away; Atilla’s piano is just superb on this piece… since this song is only 4:05, I believe it will be a prime choice for jazz DJ’s across the globe… I predict this tune will be getting some HUGE amounts of airplay!

Andor’s double bass on the closing track, “Midnight Sea“, paints inspiring visions for your ears, heart and soul… a very calming (yet high-energy) tune that is (already) getting many re-plays here in my reviewing studio.

My choice for personal favorite of the five (long) tunes offered up for your aural adventure was easy… the 9:20 “Én Felkelék” draws you into the magical spell Billy and his players weave, and will take you to new heights as you wake to the wonderment they create for you… I just LOVE this song!

I give Billy and all of his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this splendid creation.  Get more information on Billy’s  BandCamp page for the release.             Rotcod Zzaj
