* lindacalise jazz romance * Linda Calise – HAPPY TO BE LOVING YOU:  My reviewing of Linda’s work is a kind of “exception”, as I normally don’t review “EP-length” albums… there’s one sole reason for my doing that – SOUL!  As you listen to “Can’t Take My Eyes off You“, you’ll know without a doubt why I did that… for me, this is just like going back to those late-’60’s & early-’70’s years when groups like The Temptations, Diana Ross & Gladys Knight were doing “special shows” on a regular basis… some of the best (musical) times of my 70 years on the globe.  The players who support her vocal work are top-of-the-line as well, but too long to itemize here… check out the CD-Baby page, which has the credits list on it.

There’s one thing I absolutely must recommend… listen to this on a good set of speakers, not just earplugs or headphones… you’ll want to make sure you catch the dynamics of performance gems like “Midnight Lover” – you can almost see Linda pouring her heart out & swaying with emotion as she sings this… you’ll be totally captivated, I’ll guarantee it!  I will eagerly await her next release, which I sincerely hope is a full-length album.

Of the five songs offered up, it’s “Butterflyz” that was an easy pick for personal favorite… Linda reaches down deep inside herself and gives you everything she has on this totally wonderful song.  I give her a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.98 for her fine performances on this short sample of her great vocal work!  Get more information at the Republic of Jazz page for this release.         Rotcod Zzaj
