Joyful Jobim musical celebrations Antonio Adolfo – Jobim Forever

Joyful Jobim musical celebrations Antonio Adolfo – JOBIM FOREVER:  I’m absolutely floored by Antonio’s new album… it’s been over a year since I reviewed his “Bruma” album, where he got very high marks… first, watch him in an intimate LIVE performance from 2017…

You’ll find a LOT more performances and albums when you SUBSCRIBE to Antonio’s YouTube channel – well worth it, to be sure.

The player list for the July 31st, 2021 release is far too long to itemize here, but you can view it on Antonio’s website… their performance on the classic “The Girl From Ipanema” opens the album with just the kind of wizardry I’ve come to expect from Antonio… I guarantee you will be hearing this on your local jazz stations as DJ’s plug it into their playlists frequently!

Deep, rich piano tones from Antonio open the moody “Inutil Paisagem” (Useless Landscape)… I particularly enjoyed Antonio’s keyboard style on this very penetrating tune that also features some excellent trombone and tenor sax solos.

Favela (O Morro Não Tem Vez)” takes you right on down into turf that the blues inhabit… the interplay between Antonio’s piano and the horns is vibrant and will engage your ears (and your heart, no doubt) fully!

After listening through the album twice, I knew exactly what my choice for personal favorite of the nine songs would be… the driving rhythms on “Agua de Beber” (Drinking Water) flow passionately with the spirit of life, and will have you up and dancing ’round the room in no time.

I give Antonio and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98 for this excellent tour of Carlos Jobim’s magical music.  Get more information on Antonio’s page for the release.                  Rotcod Zzaj
