Inspired transformative jazz Madre Vaca – Winterreise

Inspired transformative jazz Madre Vaca – WINTERREISE:   “Different” is what it’s all about here at Contemporary Fusion Reviews magazine… you’ll find some very inspired and transformative jazz on this new release, and it’s certainly different than what you might expect… to get a rousing (& rather long) preview of what this splendid group is doing, be sure to watch this video…

…if you SUBSCRIBE to Madre Vaca’s YouTube channel, there’s more to behold.

High-talent and unique players make this release a huge success, too… Juan Rollan – saxophone; Steve Strawley – trumpet; Lance Reed – trombone; Jonah Pierre – piano; Jarrett Carter – guitar; Mike Perez – bass; Benjamin Shorstein – drums and Milan Algood – percussion all work together seamlessly on tunes like the mellow & laid-back “The Gray Head” to create musical memories for you… I believe DJ’s will pick up on this song and spin it often!

It’s interesting to note that the songs are based on works from Franz Schubert, but as you listen to the lively action on the 3:30 “The Stormy Morning“, you’ll realize that Benjamin’s arrangements have turned this into very attractive jazz.

It wasn’t difficult at all to choose my personal favorite of the ten tunes offered up for our stimulation and pleasure… “Frozen” has some truly rowdy sax from Juan and super solid piano lines from Jonah…. this song absolutely WAILS, folks!

I give Madre Vaca a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98 for this most enjoyable jazz journey.  Get more information on Madre Vaca’s BandCamp page for the album.                      Rotcod Zzaj
