Gracefully renewing guitar magic David Lindsay – High Wind Blue Sky

Gracefully renewing guitar magic David Lindsay – HIGH WIND BLUE SKY:  The new sweet summer is ever easier to slide into when you have such gracefully renewing guitar magic to accompany you on the journey… I reviewed his 2018 “Last Passing of Summer“, where he got very high marks from these ol’ ears.

As with the earlier release, David put this album together at Will Ackerman’s Imaginary Road studios, where only the best artists are recorded… the accompaniment for his graceful guitar work is just stunning… cello from Eugene Friesen, Jill Haley doing English horn, violin from Charlie Bisharat, percussion from Jeff Haynes and Jeff Oster on flugelhorn… also you’ll hear piano and bass from Tom Eaton (who recorded and engineered the album), mysterious vocals by Noah Wilding and beautiful acoustic guitar leads from Will Ackerman… samples aren’t up yet, but I can tell you that you will feel totally at peace as you listen to the 4:24 “Slow Walk Home”… it’s very visual playing, and will bring back memories of treks you’ve taken, for sure.

The intimate “pacing” on the 4:16 “Dear Friend” will bring visions of those folks you treasure beyond the confines of time… Tom’s piano is slow, sensual and magic on this piece… I really believe this song will be nominated for (and WIN) awards!

I strongly advise that you listen to this album with headphones on (as I did), so you can catch all the tantalizing musical moments…like the beautiful “woven vocal” segments on “Sea Swells”… this is one of my personal favorite performances (so far) in 2021.

The word that comes to mind as I listen to “Birds” is “fluffy“… the length of the tune (6:22) gives ample room for each player to express their emotions masterfully… Jill’s horn (at about the 2:05 mark) will lift your spirit right into the clouds, and the interplay between all the instruments will bring sweet visions into your head!

The joy of living is captured wonderfully in a tune David wrote for his daughter, “For Margot”… a truly happy feeling that is (without question) my personal favorite of the ten David offers up… I predict this song will be garnering a LOT of airplay.

I give David and all the players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this very memorable album.  Get more information on David’s website as it becomes available.                   Rotcod Zzaj
