Fernando García fiery exciting jazz sextet Fernando García – Guasábara Puerto Rico

Fernando García fiery exciting jazz sextet Fernando García – GUASABARA PUERTO RICO:  Fernando’s drumming and vocal work leads this fiery and exciting jazz adventure, and his musical pals (DAN MARTÍNEZ upright bass, electric bass, GABRIEL CHAKARJI piano, GABRIEL VICÉNS guitar, JAN KUS tenor sax, VICTOR PABLO barril, congas, with special guest MIGUEL ZENÓN Alto Sax)… it’s not set to release officially until 9 March, 2018, so samples will be available later.  You’ll definitely catch the vibe, & become an “instant fan”, when you listen to the excellent “Audubon”… wow!  Superb energy!

You can get to know Fernando a bit better in his promo trailer for the new release..

…there’s also a really nice (though short) clip of the recording studio, with all his folks at work… (be sure to subscribe to his channel while you’re there)…

What was most noticeable (and enjoyable) for me is the high level of talent Fernando displays for integrating poly rhythms into his songs, best evidenced on the 7:18 “The Element”… this sextet REALLY has rhythm down pat… you won’t find a more memorable Latin-jazz album anytime soon.

Though a bit shorter than the other tunes on the album (5:44), “Ideas Convergentes”, shows more than just the raw talent of the players… it’s clear after listening to this that they eat, breathe and LIVE their music… just a SUPER tune.

Of the eight (long) songs offered up for your listening (& dancing, maybe) pleasure, it is (without doubt) the title track, “Guasábara Puerto Rico”, that easily won my vote for personal favorite… all the fire, emotion and (sometimes) deep sadness of the Puerto Rico experience over the last several months shines through clearly here.

This is THE best Latin-jazz album I’ve listened to (yet) in 2018, and it gets a well-deserved MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99.  Get more information at the Zoho Records page for the album.        Rotcod Zzaj
