Driving deep grooves Dave Stryker – Baker’s Circle

Driving deep grooves Dave Stryker – BAKER’S CIRCLE:   Whenever you need jazz that will kick your tail into gear and make you MOVE, you’ll return to the driving deep grooves Dave and his fellow players (Walter Smith III- tenor sax, Jared Gold-organ, McClenty Hunter-drums, Mayra Casales -percussion) create for you on Dave’s latest release… you can enjoy the entire album in high-quality resolution on Dave’s YouTube topic channel, too…

When I talk about “driving”, I’m not just whistlin’ Dixie, either, as you’ll hear on the killer track, “Rush Hour“, which features the (absolutely) BEST jazz B3 solo I’ve heard (yet) in 2021… Jared’s solo kicks in right at the 1:38 mark, and will MAKE you MOVE, people… I predict that jazz DJ’s around the globe will be spinning this tune over & over (& OVER) again!

Dave & his players always know how to dig down DEEP into th’ PHUNK, and that’s totally clear on their performance of Marvin Gaye’s “Inner City Blues“… it was this tune that made me pick this album for my iPhone player (something that only happens to the best jazz).

Readers who visit here regularly know there’s nothing I like better than original jazz, so it will come as no surprise to them that my choice for personal favorite of the ten tunes Dave & crew offer up is Dave’s “El Camino“… superb percussion from Mayra on this performance, too!

I give Dave and his talented crew of players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this down & funky album.   Get more information on Dave’s web page for the release.                                            Rotcod Zzaj
