Delightfully different jazz Michael Sarian & The Chabones – León

Delightfully different jazz Michael Sarian & The Chabones – LEON:  This is my first listen to Michael’s delightful and different jazz… the band is full-tilt talent as well… Michael Sarian Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Vocals, Mini Moog, Synth; Jim Piela Alto & Soprano Sax; Evan Francis Tenor Sax; Elad Cohen Trombone; Michael Verselli Piano, Nord, Mini Moog, Synth; Trevor Brown Electric Bass; Josh Bailey Drums, Auxiliary Percussion and Franco Pinna Bombo Legüero on tracks #1 and 3 all blend together in joyous celebration on all six tunes.

There’s only a short teaser for this new album (it doesn’t hit the street until September, 2018; I will come back and add sample links in once the release goes HOT), but it will give you a good feel for how lively they play together…

…since this is their third album, there are quite a few videos up on Michael’s YouTube channel, so be sure and SUBSCRIBE to his channel.

“Colorado Yeta”, which Michael had planned on being the title for the release (read more about that here), is certainly one of the mellowest brass-led tunes I’ve heard (yet) in 2018… I just loved the keyboard on this one… superbly calming.

Drummer Josh Bailey kind of “leads” “No 3”, with each of the other players giving him plenty of room to stir his sticks… superb rhythms throughout this 4:23 sonic adventure.

My personal favorite of the six songs offered up is definitely “Your Words”… it’s not as “Latin-flavored” as the other pieces, but the keyboard(s) are prominent throughout the 11:32 length of the tune… this is a song that will be playing over and over again on my iPhone player… just lovely!

I give Michael and his musical cohorts a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.97 for this one.  Get more information on the Zoho Music page for the release.          Rotcod Zzaj
