Visionary transcending new solo piano work Steve Rivera – Beyond Measures & Time

Visionary transcending new solo piano work Steve Rivera – BEYOND MEASURES & TIME:  I had the great pleasure of meeting with Steve this month, and reviewing him in live performance at Rhonda Mackert’s concert series… Steve’s keyboard work is truly visionary and transcending… his YouTube channel didn’t have live videos from this new release, but you’ll be captivated by this trailer for his earlier album, just as I was (especially since you’ll see him in action with recording master Will Ackerman)…

…since you’re there already, be sure to SUBSCRIBE to Steve’s channel, where you’ll find many other songs (it would be nice to see a live performance from the new album posted there, too, Steve).

Steve’s concept for the new release (as you might infer from the album title) is to leave “open spaces” for the listener… he does this artfully on pieces like the lovely and engaging “Unlocking the Moments“… what Steve achieves here is something that will be the envy of other piano artists around the globe… he takes advantage of the “silences” to let the listener create and experience their own visions… a truly excellent piece of music that I can see (easily) winning awards!

The lower registers of his keyboard are put to full use on Steve’s “Dark Tides“, one of my favorite solo piano tunes (yet) in 2019… as I listen to this one, I can easily “see” myself cruising through another galaxy, surfing tesseracts and becoming completely absorbed in the moment… I predict this song will be getting some MAJOR airplay on stations ’round the globe.

It was (really) easy to choose my personal favorite of the eleven marvelous performances Steve offers up for your solo piano enjoyment (especially since he performed it live during the aforementioned show)… “Falling Closer” is the longest piece on the album, so you get plenty of room to contemplate the music and interpret it as you wish.  I just LOVED the changes on this song!

Steve Rivera is a pianist to “keep your ear on”; you can expect many more wonderful albums from him in the coming months and years… he gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this incredible musical adventure.  Get more information on Steve’s website.       Rotcod Zzaj
