Uniquely evocative uplifting sonic journey Scott August – Beyond Summer

Uniquely evocative uplifting sonic journey Scott August – BEYOND SUMMER:  Scott’s magical flute works have been reviewed by us for a long time now… first in issue # 81,  and most recently in issue # 132, where he got top-of-the-line ratings from me… before I even start my review of his new release, though, I would (most STRONGLY) recommend that you watch him as he creates/plays the evocative and uplifting title track, “Beyond Summer“…

…that’s how a true professional does it, folks… & of course, since you’re there already, be sure to SUBSCRIBE to his YouTube channel, where you’ll find many more exciting creative sonic journeys – I did.

Pictures and visions of days long past will come alive as you listen to the totally engaging “Buffalo Dance“… intricately woven, swirling tones introduce the tune… percussion is integrated slowly and builds to the beautiful Native American flute leading the march… I have no doubt that this composition will be considered for (and WIN) awards!

As a bit of a bonus, you can also watch the master as he crafted this…

The wonderful sonic journey continues with songs like the haunting “Empty Highways“… you’ll hear the echoes of ghosts of the road as Scott helps you navigate… I particularly liked the piano sound on this tune.  Since the length of the piece is perfect for radio (5:43), I predict that you’ll be hearing this beauty in regular rotations on stations ’round the country.

Scott is also a teacher… in 2001 he founded Cedar Mesa Music; he teaches privately and gives several multi-day workshops each year through his Santa Fe Flute School… a most interesting musical figure, as you will learn when you read his bio

It was actually easy to pick my personal favorite of the eleven evocative and uplifting musical adventures Scott gives you on this album… “A Day with You” has a sense of gentle dancing, with some very sensitive guitar woven in and throughout the piece… as you listen to this, you will feel like Scott is right there in your living room, introducing himself to you through his music.  You will find yourself coming back to this piece over & over (& OVER) again… a real sense of camaraderie that you often don’t get on New Age albums.

This exceptional album gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from me, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of a (perfect) 5.00… meaning that it also gets my “PICK” for “best multi-instrumental sonic journey”.  Get more information about Scott and his music on his Cedar Mesa Music website.         Rotcod Zzaj
