Totally exciting original jazz Pablo Lanouguere Quintet – ECLECTICO: HEY there, jazz lover… you will NOT be able to stop spinning bassist Pablo’s totally exciting original jazz album… before I even get started with my thoughts on the pieces on the release, I (most STRONGLY) recommend that you watch/listen to the exciting closer, “Hacia Donde Vamos“…
…absolutely NO hype is involved when I say that Pablo’s debut release is one of the best I’ve heard (yet) in 2019. Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to Pablo’s channel, since you’re there already (he doesn’t have a lot of videos there yet, but I suspect that will change rapidly – hint, hint!).
Pablo’s choice of talented players to support his marvelous bass work is equally astounding… Fernando Otero: Synths Nick Danielson: Violin Federico Diaz: Guitar Emilio Teubal: Piano Franco Pinna: Drums… just listen to the beautiful “Complicando Lo Simple” to hear how amazingly they all play together… I have little doubt that you will be spinning this tune over & over again, as am I!
The opening salvo alone, “Mil Grullas De Papel“, totally justifies the purchase of the album… what stunning movement these folks create for your ears… if any jazz piece in 2019 merits an AWARD – this is it, people.
The “patterns” on “Un Primero Saldra” are totally unique, and when you listen to the entire 3:02 track, you will realize that Pablo & his folks have created a rhythmic masterpiece here… lots of pace changes and mysterious sounds abound!
It wasn’t difficult (at all) to realize my personal favorite of the dozen high-energy tunes Pablo & his players have offered up… “Gatito De La Fiesta” fuses together the music of many cultures in exciting new ways… very pleasant listening with strong appeal for ALL types of jazz fans.
I give Pablo and his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of a (perfect) 5.00 – meaning that he also gets a “PICK” for “most unique jazz quintet album”. Get more information on Pablo’s website. Rotcod Zzaj
