sylviabennett contemporary sensuous vocal Sylvia Bennett – For You

sylviabennett contemporary sensuous vocal Sylvia Bennett – FOR YOU:  Some readers of this magazine (and my original magazine, IMPROVIJAZZATION NATION, may not be familiar with the “criteria” used here to determine if an artist/album gets reviewed here… it isn’t based on “genre”, “style”, or anything less than the ENERGY they project for the music they are providing for your enjoyment.  Sylvia’s music doesn’t fall neatly into any “pigeonhole”, though it’s certainly contemporary and timely!  As you listen to her very unique interpretation of “Look Of Love“, you will hear exactly where her talent lies… she’s able to grab your heart & soul immediately, and helps you dig down deep to remember emotions you may have thought had vanished from your life… very, VERY impressive (and it takes a LOT to impress this jaded old reviewer).

To get a little more information about the players, visit the BandCamp site for the album… the string introductions to Sylvia’s performance on “Fly Me to the Moon” is a sonic treasure for your ears to behold, and the rhythms after the info will have you up and dancing ’round the floor in only moments… again, Sylvia demonstrates a clear talent for doing music that’s both exciting and different!

The “lounge version” of the tune “Smile” is very pleasant to listen to, but it’s the “chill” version of “Smile” that is my pick for personal favorite of the eleven songs offered up on the album… in fact, I’d like to have a 6-9 minute version of this one for cruising down th’ road… I predict that you will be hearing this one receiving a LOT of airplay over the next few months!  I give Sylvia and her crew a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.97 for this memorable release.  Get more information about Sylvia on the Sylvia Bennett website.         Rotcod Zzaj
