Skillful smoking jazz wonders Jazz From Planet Flippo – Dedications

Skillful smoking jazz wonders Jazz From Planet Flippo – DEDICATIONS:  It’s pure joy when I get an artist in that I haven’t heard before, and pianist/vocalist Dr. Dave Flippo’s new May 2021 CD was an instant hit here in my jazz review studio… to get you started on the skillful smoking jazz wonders Dave and his players create for you, I highly recommend that you watch their live performance of Dave’s original tune, “Third Eye Open“, first…

Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to Dave’s YouTube channel, too, so you can witness his jazz genius up close and personal… I signed up immediately.

In addition to Dave’s sizzling piano, keyboard, and melodica, you’ll also hear acoustic and fretless bass from Donn De Santo, saxophones and flutes by Dan Hesler, Drums from Heath Chappell and percussion by Aras Biskis… they just SMOKE IT on Dave’s arrangement of Amy Winehouse’s “Rehab“… Dan’s sax on this performance is a true jazz scorcher!  I know (beyond any doubt) that jazz DJ’s across the globe will be adding this to their playlists for constant rotation!

The volcanic arrangement Dave created for the band’s performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Too High” is pure pleasure to listen to, and will have you up on your tippy-toes dancing ’round the room… this is (absolutely) the BEST performance of this classic tune I’ve ever listened to.

Regular readers here know that what always makes my personal favorite list is original jazz… of the eleven ultra-exciting songs on the album, it was definitely the closer, Dave’s original “Metamorphosis“, that gave it the status of personal favorite… this tune is also what made me choose this for a permanent slot on my iPhone player, something that only happens for the VERY BEST jazz!

I give Dave and all his stellar players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with a (perfect) “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 5.00… that means, of course, that it also gets a “PICK” from me for “best jazz ensemble”.  Get more information, and purchase the album, on Dave’s BandCamp page for the release.                           Rotcod Zzaj
