pleasant spiritual glow Lynn Yew Evers – Elysian

pleasant spiritual glow Lynn Yew Evers – ELYSIAN:  There are only a few musical artists that leave me feeling a pleasant spiritual glow that lasts for the longer-term… Lynn’s beautiful piano work, together with very famous players like Will Ackerman, bassist Tony Levin, cellist Eugene Friesen and flautist Wouter Kellerman (all of whom have been reviewed here many times), is one of them! It’s only when a player’s spirit simply shines through the music that I get that feeling

Just listen to the enlightenment that flows through her hands on “Kindred Spirit“… it’s far more than “just another classically trained pianist” doing this wonderful music, I can tell you.  If you Google it, you will find that the album title also means “characteristic of heaven or paradise”… and that’s just how you’ll feel as you listen to Lynn’s masterful piano playing on one of my favorite piano tunes, “Remembering Love” in all my time reviewing music… heavenly!

She’s actually been performing since the age of 4, and has risen to great heights in her musical career in both the United States and her birthplace, Malaysia, and also organized many concerts in both locations since around 1985.  If it’s sheer power in music that you are yearning for, you will fall in love (immediately) with “Night Owl, In the Style of a Nocturne“… she’s joined by Charlie Bishart’s superbly performed violin on this piece; you will find yourself totally enchanted by the instruments and the wonderful vocals going on under, around and through the song.

Lynn uses different keys for each composition to emphasize different moods, temperaments and colors that inspired the song… one of the most beautiful of the thirteen is “Bluebird Day“, which you can watch her perform live at Carnegie Hall in the YouTube video below, featuring Eugene Friesen:

If ever she is playing a concert in your area, you must go and watch her performance… particularly if she is playing pieces like my personal favorite from this release, the 4:48 “Beautiful“, featuring Wouter Kellerman… they are truly magical on this most uplifting song; a performance you will continue to come back to over and over again.  I give Lynn and her supporting cast of players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of a (perfect) 5.00… which means that she also gets a “PICK” for “best piano led album”.  You can learn more about Lynn’s high-talent music at the Lynn Evers website.            Rotcod Zzaj
