Masterful contemporary fusion duo Jimmy Haslip and Joe Vanelli – Nightfall

Masterful contemporary fusion duo Jimmy Haslip and Joe Vanelli – NIGHTFALL:  I’ve been a fan of Jimmy’s buoyant bass work for a long time now, and when he teams up his creativity with the magical keyboards of Joe Vanelli, the listener is treated to one of the most masterful contemporary fusion albums in 2020.  I recommend that you watch a short promo for the album first…

…you’ll find a whole host of other great performances and albums when you SUBSCRIBE to the Blue Canoe Records YouTube channel… I strongly recommend this is you’re a fan of contemporary fusion.

If “movement” in your music is what you seek above all else, you’re going to fall in love with the 5:59 “Casa De Oro” just as quickly as I did… don’t be surprised if you begin to hear this fantastic tune spinning on your local jazz station regularly… the great list of players can be viewed here!

The title track, “Nightfall“, is full of mystery and beauty; only appropriate, since this totally engaging creation is dedicated to Jimmy’s daughter Gabriella.  You’ll be amazed at the deeply moving images the song creates for you.

There was absolutely no doubt in my mind what my choice for personal favorite of the nine (long) jazz journeys would be… the opener, “Empath“, will hold you (and your ears) totally spellbound – a truly awesome song!

I give Jimmy and Joe a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this prime example of what contemporary fusion really means.  Get more information on the Blue Canoe Records page for this release.    Rotcod Zzaj
