Lushly mellow jazz vocals Tania Grubbs Quintet – Live At Maureen’s Jazz Cellar

Lushly mellow jazz vocals Tania Grubbs Quintet – LIVE AT MAUREEN’S JAZZ CELLAR:   This is my first exposure to Tania’s lushly mellow jazz vocals, and all I can say is – “What a treat!!”… though I didn’t find any LIVE videos from the new album release (hint, hint), I did find the following video of Tania and her bassist husband Jeff to be quite refreshing…

…don’t miss your chance to SUBSCRIBE to Tania’s YouTube channel, where you’ll find many more performances for your visual and aural enjoyment.

On the new release, I found Tania’s rendition of lyricist Leonard Cohen’s “Bird on a Wire” to be totally exciting… I have no doubt you’ll be hearing this on your local jazz stations frequently… DJ’s are gonna’ love it!

If you’re in need of truly laid-back and mellow music to keep your day going nicely, you’ll find the beautiful “Peace” to be a favorite… Tania’s vocal “pacing” is pure perfection, and the recording of the tune is flawless.

The lively spirit Tania brings to Charlie Parker’s “Ornithology” is simply stunning… full of life and the living of it… I’ll go so far as to say that this is the best performance of this great song I’ve ever heard!

It’s the bluesy and soulful atmosphere Tania creates on the 6:42 closer, “Don’t Take Your Love From Me“, that is my choice for personal favorite of the dozen delicious tunes offered up for our jazz joy… I can tell you right now, you haven’t heard jazz vocals this exciting in a long, LONG time.

I give Tania and her players (DAVID BUDWAY-piano, RON AFFIF-guitar, JAMES JOHNSON III-drums and Tania’s husband JEFF GRUBBS-bass) a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98 for this very enjoyable jazz vocal excursion.   Get more information at Tania’s website.         Rotcod Zzaj
