Lively innovative solo piano improvisations Michele McLaughlin – Sketches

Lively innovative solo piano improvisations Michele McLaughlin – SKETCHES:  The word improvisation often has different meanings for different listeners… in my own case, I can’t help but think of some of the wild joy I felt when my partners and I created music that couldn’t be easily defined… my last review of Michele’s superb solo piano was for her “Memoirs” album, where she got a “PICK” from me.  On this new album, she gifts you with some of the most lively and innovative solo piano you will ever hear… to get a sense of how intimate these “instantly crafted” pieces are, I strongly suggest that you watch this video of Michele performing one of her improvs…

…you will find a whole host of Michele’s albums and performances when you SUBSCRIBE to her YouTube channel… if you are totally in love with solo piano, I most strongly recommend that you do just that.

I was totally enchanted by the calming pace of the 4:54 “Farewell Little Love” (the only track that’s available right now; the album will be officially released on 4 December, 2020… it’s available for pre-order now)… Michele uses the full range of her keyboard to draw you into this sketch, and it will bring back unlimited memories for you.  I predict that this piece will be getting some HUGE amounts of airplay around the globe!

There is a sense of brilliant and shimmering light on the beautiful “One Life”… you will want to make sure you listen to this tune with your headphones on, so you can catch every little nuance of the sonic imagery Michele paints for you… wonderful overtones make the song just “ring” with magical overtones that are most pleasing.

The power Michele projects through her masterful playing on the closer, “Unshakeable”, will give you hope (even in these most trying of times)… the song is absolutely vibrant and full of resolution… this is my choice for personal favorite of the thirteen songs offered up!

I give Michele a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this free-flowing piano journey into joy.  Get more information on Michele’s BandCamp page for the album.                                     Rotcod Zzaj
