improvised chamber music Antonella Chionna Meets Pat Battstone – Rylesonable (featuring Richard Poole, with Kit Demos)

improvised chamber music Antonella Chionna Meets Pat Battstone – RYLESONABLE (featuring Richard Poole, with Kit Demos):  If you’re even the slightest bit inclined towards “improvised chamber music”, this CD is an absolute MUST-have, folks!  I’ve been working with Pat for the last couple of years, in various capacities, but his work with Ms. Chionna is the ABSOLUTE best I’ve ever heard from him (and there’s more coming soon).  A quote from Antonella says “”I met these cool guys, for the first time, on my way to USA in the spring of 2016. I was 25 and quite impressed by the easiness that came from this kind of musical connection: blessed by the circumstances and privileged by a providential empathy, placed in the charming town of Cambridge (MA) at the Ryles Jazz Club”… she really hit the nail on the head with those comments, as this is indeed “providential” & “easy” music!

In this event, Antonella’s vocal work is complimented very nicely by Pat’s superb piano and Fender Rhodes, as well as double bass and modular synthesizer from Kit Demos and Richard Poole’s magical vibraphone work!  If you listen closely on my personal favorite tune from the album, the 5:58 opener”Under A Persian Sky“, you will hear the magical sonic environment they create together, and will fall totally in love with it, I’ve no doubt… since this is a “pre-release” review, there are no other samples readily available (but I will be coming back to add them when it goes live on the web; the album is slated for early spring release; probably by the end of February, or early March, 2017).  Listen very closely to this improvisational masterpiece, though… no one is “leading” the rest of the players… they just flow together beautifully around Antonella’s wonderful vocal… the pacing (as well as the recording) is pure perfection, and if you love music that flows right from the soul – this will become one of your favorite albums – FOREVER!  I give Antonella and her cohorts a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, as well as an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99!           Rotcod Zzaj
