Emotional contemporary healing Karen Olson – Songpath

Emotional contemporary healing Karen Olson – SONGPATH:  When I reviewed Karen’s debut album, “A Hero’s Journey“, she got very high marks from me… her new release is equally impressive; full of healing energy and deeply emotional artistry.  Beautiful pieces like “Reminding” show her unique talent at using her viola to lift your spirits and magically transport you to new heights… in fact, this is one of my favorite pieces of music (yet) in 2018… full rich tones reach down deep inside and help to mend your soul.

The opener, “Ever Peace“, is stunning in its’ simplicity… the interactions with the piano will make this a composition you return to often for sustenance, as do I…

Karen’s viola is complimented very nicely by musical masters of the highest caliber… Olivia Meihofer – vocal; Premik Russell Tubbs – soprano sax, flute, wind synth; Carlos Cuevas – piano, synthesizer; Theo Jones – music programming and Osie Brown – synthesizer all support the joy she conveys through her music, particularly on tunes like the wonderful “Moving Higher“… I can (easily) see this piece being nominated for (and WINNING) awards… just lovely!

The 4:29 “Adventure” has some of the most captivating vocals I’ve heard (yet) this year… again, it shows just how skillful and diverse Karen and her cohorts are… I find myself listening to this tune over and over again, and have no doubt you will as well.  If you’re looking for music that doesn’t get “stuck” in the molds that “New Age” may imply, you will definitely find it on songs like this.

Another tune that departs from the “norms” is “New Ways“… my two words of advice on this one is – LISTEN LOUD… beat-driven, yet tasteful and timely; even the rappers & hip-hoppers will be able to relate (in a healing way) to this highly original track!

My personal favorite of the nine originals Karen offers up, though, is “Inspiration“… the “pacing” is perfect, and every note is crystal-clear on this deeply moving piece of music.

I give Karen and her cohorts a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this superb sonic experience.  Get more information on Karen’s FB page.            Rotcod Zzaj
