Deliciously diverse jazz vocals Marty Elkins – ‘Tis Autumn

Deliciously diverse jazz vocals Marty Elkins – ‘TIS AUTUMN:  As you might imagine, I listen to a lot of jazz vocalists over the course of a year… Marty’s new album (to be officially released on January 15th, 2021) is (without question) one of the most deliciously diverse jazz albums I’ve listened to in many years… first, watch her perform the title track, “‘Tis Autumn“, LIVE, from an earlier show…

…you can find many more vibrant videos when you SUBSCRIBE to Marty’s YouTube topic channel – I did it right away.

What I found most fascinating about this album is that it’s only Marty’s vocals with bass from Mike Richmond – and it WORKS, as you’ll hear when you scope out her 4:12 rendition of Duke’s “I Ain’t Got Nothin’ But The Blues“… the duo is just fantastic together, and I predict jazz & blues DJ’s across the globe will be putting this tune in regular rotations frequently!

Another thing that sets Marty’s jazz vocals apart from all the others is her exquisite “pacing”… you won’t find a rushed note anywhere on “In A Mellow Tone“, but you’ll be toe-tappin’ & finger-snappin’ right along with her, to be sure.

It was the robust tones on the mighty mellow “Lullaby Of The Leaves” that made it my personal favorite of the ten tantalizing tunes offered up… this one will be getting replay action often!

I give Marty and Mike a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.98 for this most enjoyable jazz vocal excursion.  Get more information on Marty’s website as it becomes available.                         Rotcod Zzaj
