Superb jazz ensemble work The 14 Jazz Orchestra – The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be

Superb jazz ensemble work The 14 Jazz Orchestra – THE FUTURE AIN’T WHAT IT USED TO BE:  Dan Bonsanti’s arrangements are the ultimate in chill-out on this superb eleven song jazz ensemble set… the 13-piece ensemble (under Dan’s direction) gets help from renowned guests Randy Brecker, Mark Colby, Mark Egan, Danny Gottlieb, Marko Marcinko, Rick Margitza, and Lee Levin, with featured soloist, Ed Calle, and they provide some of the swinginest jazz you’ll listen to next year (the album releases officially on the 1st of January, 2019)… just scope out one of my favorites, “Blue Miles” to get a taste for what they can do for your ears… fantastic!

I checked pretty closely, but couldn’t find any YouTube channel for The 14… that would be a truly nice addition for the next release… in the meantime, check out the oddly titled “Dance Cadaverous“… excellent arrangements and perfect recording make this a piece you’ll remember for the long term, & keep coming back to.

Though the group certainly is in the “big band” category, they are adept at different moods & styles, too… you’ll get a truly intimate feel as you listen to their interpretation of Buster Williams’ 4:35 “Firewater“… absolutely delicious jazz, through & through!

It was easy to pick my personal favorite of the eleven tunes offered up for your aural adventure… the high-energy FUNK on “Rice Pudding” is KILLER… the guitar solo that starts at the :047 mark just wails with the soul of jazz… I loved this performance, and have no doubt you will, too!

I give The 14 a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99 for this fun-filled album.  Get more information on The 14 Jazz Orchestra home page.          Rotcod Zzaj
