wide awake jazz Thomas Marriott – Screen Time

wide awake jazz Thomas Marriott – SCREEN TIME:  We’ve reviewed trumpeter Tomas Marriott’s work before, most recently on his “East West Summit Coast To Coast“, a true jazz gem.

You won’t find much on the net about the album yet, since it doesn’t officially release until 17 January, 2025, but here’s a short clip from the title track on the album…

There are a few more vids on his channel, so be sure to SUBSCRIBE to the Thomas Marriott channel – I signed up right away.

As always with the music Thomas and his fellow players (Thomas Marriott – trumpet; Orrin Evans – piano; Robert Hurst – bass and Mark Whitfield Jr. – drums) create, there’s an abundance of styles; one of the most mellow I’ve listened to yet from this trumpet master is “It’s Such A Good Feeling“… beautiful trumpet, and I loved Orrin’s piano on this tune!

It was one of the shorter pieces that really caught my ear… the 2:58 “Pinball Number Count” steps right up in yer’ face, and challenges you to get “phonk-ee”… absolutely essential jazz, and my personal favorite of the nine bold tunes offered up on the album.

This album made my day; Thomas and his bandmates get a “most highly recommended”, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this great release.  Check it out on the Bandcamp page for the album below…
