I absolutely loved Joshua’s piano on the duo’s mighty mellow rendition of Billy Strayhorn’s “Lush Life” (no samples yet; the album doesn’t hit the street until 21 May, 2021)… this is truly one of the most unique piano/vocal recordings of that song I’ve ever heard… magnificent!
It’s clear that these two gents are able to read minds… Cole Porter’s “So In Love” conveys a sense of just how natural romance is; Jonathan and Joshua will wrap you right into their spell with this song.
The variety of styles offered up is excellent… their lively treatment of James Taylor’s “Your Smiling Face” will move your mood up several notches each time you listen to it… I predict DJ’s of all stripes will be playing this tune often!
I’m a total addict for songs by Mose Allison, and Joshua and Jonathan make “Stop This World” totally their own… first listen made me choose this tune as my personal favorite of the thirteen tantalizing songs offered up.
