captivating jazz odyssey Peter Hand – Blue Topaz

captivating jazz odyssey Peter Hand – BLUE TOPAZ:  Guitarist Peter Hand has created a most captivating jazz odyssey on his upcoming album, set to release on 19 January, 2024.  You can get an intimate look at his playing style on a live performance earlier in 2023 (the players are different in this video, but the song is on the album)…

You can also enjoy several other performances when you SUBSCRIBE to Peter’s SuiteBlues channel on YouTube (I signed up right away).

In addition to Peter’s sweet and soulful guitar work, you’ll also hear trumpeter Eddie Allen, saxophonist Don Braden, pianists James Weidman and David Janeway, bassist Harvie S, drummer Steve Johns, and the legendary tenor saxophonist Houston Person.  Their performance on the beautiful ballad, “Bittersweet Morning” (I will come back and add in sample links when I’m told they are available) is absolutely stunning, and will hold you totally entranced for all 8:17 minutes!

After my first listen through the ten tantalizing tunes offered up for our jazz journey, I knew (without a doubt) what my personal favorite would be… the bright and lively “Hand-Me-Down Blues” captured my ears from the first bar until the closing note of this 6:44 jazz gem.  Peter and all of his high-talent players get a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99.  Check out Peter’s Spotify channel (below) as the album gets closer to the 19 January, 2024 release date.
