Travis Shallow & The Deep Ends superbly crafted soulful Americana Travis Shallow & The Deep Ends – The Great Divide

Travis Shallow & The Deep Ends superbly crafted soulful Americana Travis Shallow & The Deep Ends – THE GREAT DIVIDE: A whole host of memories of my time in the south-land (mostly in Huntsville, Alabama & lower Tennessee) are stirred up by Travis’s superbly crafted songs and guitar work… he has a voice that (somehow) reminds me of another of my Americana heroes, Kris Kristofferson… as you listen to his extraordinary lyrics & vocal work on the soul-filled “River That Sings“, you’ll realize why I say that…

Of course, there’s no better way to become acquainted with a musician than to actually watch them, so check out this wonderful video teaser of the opening title track, “The Great Divide” (I just LOVED the organ work on this track)…

…the players joining Travis on the album are Bob Russell-guitar, pedal steel, keys; Jason Moore-bass; Brian Mason-drums with special appearances from Michael McAdam-guitar; Tom Gossin-keys, and I’ll tell you right now, the recording quality is top-of-the-line… with soulful playing and singing like this, it’s no surprise to me that he’s opened for folks like Greg Allman.  & since you’re right there, be sure you SUBSCRIBE to Travis’s official YouTube channel, where you can watch him on even more videos.

The jumpin’ tempo and insightful lyrics on “Papertrail” reveal a really rockin’ side of Travis & his players… “the Devil don’t leave a paper-trail“, indeed… ain’t no doubt in my mind that this song will rocket right to the top of the charts – so, keep your ears out for Travis & his folks… I predict you’re gonna’ be hearing LOTS more from them in the coming months & years!

You’re going to fall in love with my personal favorite of the eight songs Travis offers up for your listening pleasure… though it’s one of the shorter cuts (3:20) “Backseat Dreamer” reflects a very soulful side of this up & coming artist… this tune earned a permanent spot on my iPhone, which is rare indeed… in fact, the whole album made it on there.

I give Travis & his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of a (perfect) 5.00 – meaning that they also get my “PICK” for “best Americana album”.  Get more information on Travis’s website.       Rotcod Zzaj
