Tasty tantalizing trumpet Gerhard Daum – Rhapsody for Trumpet

Tasty tantalizing trumpet Gerhard Daum – RHAPSODY FOR TRUMPET:  I’ve reviewed a couple of albums from multi-instrumentalist, most recently his exquisite “Songs Without Words” (for which he got a “PICK”)… Gerhard’s offerings are always diverse, but this is the first time I’ve heard him doing tasty and tantalizing trumpet work, though… to get the full impact of his powerful playing, I (most strongly) suggest that you check out his video trailer for the new album first…

…since you’re right there already, be sure you SUBSCRIBE to Gerhard’s YouTube channel, where you’ll find many other exciting projects.

This album won’t be published until September 14th, 2020, so you won’t find samples of it available yet… there’s a real sense of “noir” (look it up) on tunes like “The Joker”… it’s easy to imagine dark alleyways & desirous damsels as you listen to this… I have no doubt (whatsoever) that DJ’s of all persuasions will have this song in constant rotations, especially on their late-night shows!

There’s a totally mellow “morning” vibe on the beautiful 3:32 “Rise and Shine”… Gerhard’s horn calls you from your dreams and shows you that there is hope in the new day… a very powerful performance and flawless recording make it a tune you’ll be hitting “replay” for often.

I found the strings on “Promises” to be most enchanting… this 3:06 gem will hold you spellbound and wanting more of the beauty it conveys ever-so-richly… vivid contrasts between horn, strings, piano and drums make for a very satisfying listen!

It was easy to make my choice for personal favorite of the thirteen tunes Gerhard offers up for our aural enjoyment… “Sleeping City” captures the very essence of after-midnight streets and urban crawls through cavernous skyscrapers… I will go so far as to say that this is the best trumpet piece I’ve listened to (yet) in 2020.

I give Gerhard a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this most memorable album.  Get more information on Gerhard’s website as it becomes available.                                Rotcod Zzaj
