Swinging jazz dance – Swingadelic – Mercerville

Swinging jazz dance Swingadelic – MERCERVILLE:  I grew up in an era when big-band & film music was all the rage… my sisters and I used to sit around and watch all the crooners for hour after hour.  As I listen to this tribute to the music of Johnny Mercer as performed by leader John Bauers and his crew, I’m particularly impressed with tunes like “That Old Black Magic”   (this is pre-release, so I’ll come back and add the sample links as soon as they are up)…    I can easily visualize a whole roomful of folks in saddle shoes and cheerleader skirts whoopin’ it up!

For those inclined to the more mellow side of that era, the closer, “One For My Baby”, will fulfill your every sonic desire… just imagine Bogie in a dark after-hours cafe & you’ll have the right image.  The 2:44 “I Wanna Be Around” will also put you in that pensive & bluesy mood – I’ll guarantee it.  The beauty of Johnny’s music is that it’s timeless… it doesn’t matter where you are, or what time-zone you’re in, this is music that will stir the soul.

The list of players supporting this amazing set of tunes is far too long to itemize here, but you can check it out on the Zoho Music page for this release.  There are a dozen soulful & swingin’ songs, all great, but the track that is my personal favorite is the late-night “Blues in the Night”… Swingadelic really shines on this down & gritty blues – you won’t be able to stop listening, & will have to repeat this tune over & over again.  I give this classic swinger a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.99.  As mentioned previously, you can get more information at Zoho Music.         Rotcod Zzaj
