Susan Krebs Chamber Band intimate and lovely jazz chamber music Susan Krebs Chamber Band – Spring Light out of Darkness

Susan Krebs Chamber Band intimate and lovely jazz chamber music Susan Krebs Chamber Band – SPRING LIGHT OUT OF DARKNESS:  Jazz vocalist Susan calls the sessions that she does her jazz chamber music at “ThemeScenes”… on this recording, she’s joined by a small group of players… Rich Eames on piano, Rob Lockart performs woodwinds, Scott Breadman on percussion and Luis Mascaro on violin… & you’re invited to join in their intimate fun… as you listen to Susan’s magical vocal work on tunes like “Oh What A Beautiful Morning“, you will find your ears are totally wrapped around the aura she creates… like a really great book, you won’t be able to stop listening until the last note – it’s spellbinding.

Though there are different players, you can see just how marvelous Susan’s vocals are for that intimate setting I mentioned on this video performance from January 2017…

…Bernstein’s “Some Other Time” does sound slightly different on the album, but it’s still completely magical… I’ve watched lots of “house concerts” here in Olympia, and Susan’s group would be a “natural” for our little community… just lovely!  I can honestly say that it’s the best “jazz chamber music” I’ve listened to (yet) in 2018!

One of the neatest parts of listening to sessions like this is how much space is given to each instrument to dazzle your ears… you’ll clearly hear each player on the title track, “Spring“… I particularly enjoyed Scott’s percussion on this one, but (as I said), each player gets a chance to show their stuff – as light and refreshing as any spring day you’ve ever encountered.

It’s actually the closing track of the seven offered up, Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring“, that got my vote for personal favorite… there’s really the feel of one season melding into another, and by the end of the piece, you’ll find yourself buoyed up and ready for the joyous season.  A jazz performance you won’t soon forget; I just LOVED this!

I give Susan’s enchanting Chamber Band a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.98 for this treasure of an album.  Learn more on Susan’s page for the release.         Rotcod Zzaj
